Beautiful Web + Graphic Design...and much more!
Peaceful Media Services

Peaceful Media's Services

From logo design and branding to video editing and production, Peaceful Media offers a wide variety of services to help get your message out into the world with consistency, efficiency, and value.

What do I mean when I say value? I believe my product is worth equal or more than what you pay me to create it. Web and graphic designers are a dime a dozen, I know this. I also know that there are cheaper versions of my services out there. But few freelancers take your satisfaction as seriously as I do.

The way I see it, everything I create for my clients is a reflection of me, so if it's not absolutely beautiful, exhilarating, mad-creative work, than it's simply not deliverable. Only my very best for you, as if it were my own (because...it kinda is).

What's Your Story?

The answer to that question, as it pertains to your business, should be (and probably is) unique. In fact, considering the global scope of the marketplace today, the story behind the name may be the only aspect of your business (especially if it's a younger one) that distinguishes it from the thousands of other widget providers out there hogging ranks on a Google search.

This is why your branding is so important: it's your first (and sometimes only) opportunity to impress the essence of your story into the potential customer's mind and, ultimately, make your business memorable.

Branding is more than creating a nice logo. It's that, but it's also the process of communicating those unique elements of your story, be it consciously with a great slogan, or subconsciously with the correct color schemes, typography, or flows of whitespace.

So to begin the branding process, I ask a lot of questions, such as:

  • How did the vision for the business originate?
  • What do the business stakeholders really pride themselves on?
  • What feeling or emotional tone resonates with your audience?
  • What are three words that define the business?

Then, I listen... This dialogue between us reveals a core story that needs to be told, which, in turn, inspires several images and concepts for branding design. My process is to then sit with those concepts overnight, let them percolate in my subconscious for a bit before actually sitting down to design on paper and/or the computer. I also like to study the industry in which the company resides in order to find points of differentiation for my client. It's an exhilarating process to build a brand from scratch, I must say, because you can see what was once a mere idea in your creative mind become tangible...realized...alive!

This is one of my favorite aspects of business!

How Important is Web Presence?

Pretty much crucial.  But only if your business needs and does well with more exposure to customers.

A business without a website is not really in business. Creating a strong, well-branded Internet presence is the biggest bang for your business building dollar for many reasons, of which here are a few:

  • Warmed Up Customers.  Consider customers Jo-Jo and Trevor, both members of your core market. The only difference is, you tried to push your sale on to Jo-Jo with TV and radio commercials, direct mail (which he didn't enjoy all that much), while Trevor showed up at your front door asking you if you might take some time out to explain your brand, your service, your rates, your personality.

Which customer is most likely to purchase your widget? Trevor, of course, because you made it incredible easy for him to do his homework on the widget of his dreams. You brought your business's front door to his laptop screen in the comfort of his own home.

Better yet, you made more profit with this interaction! How is that? Because you didn't spend money to push your widget onto a mass audience, 95% of which isn't listening to your pitch anyway. Instead, you built a magnificent online sales tool that is ready and available for your very warmest leads, like Trevor, who take their own time and energy to proactively seek you out!

  • The Holy Grail of Marketing: VIRAL. Usually anything with the word viral ought to be avoided, but in this case you'd be in good business health to get some of this no-cost, high-return viral goodness going for you.  Because your website isn't just for the Trevors who are proactively Googling for your product or service; it's also a resource for your highly-treasured clients who are so pleased with your widget that they write a blog about their glorious experience with your company and widgets.

Or, more commonly, your treasured client speaks up to a stranger in the hot tub, "Hey, I couldn't help but overhear you talking about finding a good therapist in the area.  Mine's excellent.  You can check her out at HoaglandTherapy.com, see if you vibe with her." People don't memorize phone numbers these days; rather, they ask and share emails and website domain names.

  • Investment Longevity. Very few marketing campaigns can be created once and set to run ad infinitum without a perpetual and relatively sizable investment.  With a solid, maintenance-free site, you may need an update or two every once in a while, but other than that your only cost is a few bucks a month for hosting and domain(s).  Think of your website as an extremely cost-effective, global business card!

Platforms We Work With With the addition of a server side programmer to the Peaceful Media team, we have been building highly intricate Content Management Systems (CMS) on both the WordPress and Drupal platforms, especially the latter. We have also given our clients a cross-platform CMS integration that allows a Drupal site display and sell courses managed in the Moodle learning system! See TherapyInTransition.org for a look at our latest, cutting edge CMS build. The sky's the limit now!

Other Web Development Services. Some of my web clients need updates to their sites every week.  In these cases we may be able to negotiate a "web maintenance" rate.

Finally, I have separated Online Marketing (which includes Search Engine Optimization and Google Analytics/AdWords Customization) and E-Commerce out to their own service areas because some clients already have a satisfactory site but wish to upgrade search engine rankings or the online shopping experience.  Please visit those sections further down the page if this is the case for your business.

Get Eyeballs on that Beautiful Biz

First, I'll briefly go into email and newsletter broadcasting. Then, search engine optimization and other ways to get your company's website more traffic.

EMAIL + NEWSLETTER BROADCASTING

It's probably no secret to you that when you receive a "personalized" email or e-newsletter from a company, it's not really all that personalized. Just because it's says Dear Your Name, does not mean someone hand typed 5 million Dear Your Names out. That would kind of ruin the point of Email Marketing, which is:

Keep your name fresh in the mind of the consumer. And I'll add one more important aspect: for as little investment of time and $ as possible!

Customized Email Newsletters were a big part of spreading the word about my previous endeavor, Project Everlasting, and my buddy Mat and I fell in love with a particular software that makes non-web-savvies look downright web-savvy. After working with the software for several years, I feel comfortable recommending it, installing it, even maintaining a campaign for my Peaceful Media clients.

Part of my service is installing the software for clients' sites, and part of it is designing custom templates for newsletter e-blasts. In addition, I also do copywriting for some clients and/or hire out great freelance copy writers who know how to craft great keyword-laden content for websites and communications.

SEARCH ENGINE OPTIMIZATION

I'm not an expert in SEO (Search Engine Optimization). I concede that argument right up front. However, I know more than the average joe, and when I do a web project from the ground up, I follow Google's Webmaster rules and guidelines for getting my clients' sites placed on top of the search engines legally, organically, and without paid ads.

A few of their points that I adhere to:

  • Make a site with a clear hierarchy and text links. Every page should be reachable from at least one static text link.
  • Offer a site map to your users with links that point to the important parts of your site. If the site map is larger than 100 or so links, you may want to break the site map into separate pages.
  • Create a useful, information-rich site, and write pages that clearly and accurately describe your content.
  • Think about the words users would type to find your pages, and make sure that your site actually includes those words within it.
  • Try to use text instead of images to display important names, content, or links. The Google crawler doesn't recognize text contained in images.
  • Make sure that your {title} elements and alt attributes are descriptive and accurate.
  • Check for broken links and correct HTML.
  • Keep the links on a given page to a reasonable number (fewer than 100).

I submit the .xml sitemap to major search engine directories like Yahoo, MSN, and, of course, Google, so that they are aware of it immediately.

I also install Google Analytics to help you track everything on your site: number of visitors, frequency, return rate, site discovery patterns, keywords used for entry, AdWord campaigns, and much more. Google's AdWords is a great way to get listed in relevant searches. Ask me about setting up a Pay-Per-Click campaign specialized for your business's unique selling propositions.

Links are good! Other sites linking to your site and vice versa is a very helpful aid to improving your search ranks. So, I will help you create social networking profiles on LinkedIn, Facebook, MySpace, etc., which require very little maintenance, if any.

Blogs are the ultimate linking tool. A blog hosted within your site or as a standalone blog, is a phenomenal way to not only create search engine friendly links, but also keyword-rich content. Not to mention, it's a powerful tool for connecting to your audience. I always suggest to my clients that we set up a Wordpress or Blogger blog in the website; both are super-easy for even the least savvy of webizens to get on and write/deliver content.

For brick and mortar companies, I always suggest getting (and help get) my clients' businesses listed on the online maps: MSN, Yahoo, Google, MapQuest, etc. I can even do a coupon promotion for you on some of these online map services. The more valid, safe, and relative sites that link to yours, the better!

Websites of the grandest ilk aren't worth a penny if nobody ever sees it but you and your employees! To me, there's huge reward in knowing that certain tricks here and there have helped my clients gain quick presence on the Internet because I know that what I've built has a great opportunity to pay off quickly.

Open a Global Storefront!

How exciting is it that you can create a product, list it in your online store, and seconds later see an order pop up in your email from Trevor of East Timor?

The Internet makes anyone and everyone a global player in commerce. My job is to make that transaction with East Timor Trevor as smooth as possible. I can set up one of the following resources to make your online sales (and marketing) world easier:

  • 1ShoppingCart.com An extremely robust e-Commerce solution with powerful features like autoresponders, email and newsletter broadcasting, QuickBooks and inventory management integration, promotional coupons and campaign management, affiliate marketing programs, and all-in-one merchant account + shopping cart. I recommend this solution for clients who want unlimited flexibility in long-term customer correspondence and upselling.

Sign up for PayPal and start accepting credit card payments instantly.

  • PayPal.com An easy-to-manage e-Commerce solution with features such as QuickBooks integration, online invoicing, and credit card processing. I recommend PayPal for my clients who need to be able to process credit cards, but do a more service-oriented business with fewer monthly transactions. I use PayPal's e-Commerce for Peaceful Media transactions, for example.

A Powerful Promotion Tool

A little promotional video can open up the biggest doors for a small business. I speak from the experience of Project Everlasting's promo videos that my co-producer, Mat Boggs, and I created and used to garner major publicity on The Today Show, CNN, Fox News, and much more.

Promotional videos for your business are essentially small commercials that are easily streamable over the web via YouTube, Google Video, AOL Video, or even your own Web Server.

Relying upon my experience in producing the Project Everlasting feature-length Documentary Film, I offer the following services to get your business's promo video up and out there:

  • Cinematography
  • Editing
  • General Production Consulting
  • Script Consultation

These mini-commercials cost very little if anything to distribute and can greatly increase exposure. If you haven't noticed already, Google Earth and Maps now allow you to place your videos on the map as well. It's clear to me that video marketing isn't a strategy of the future – it's here and now.

Because Templates are Boring

PowerPoint presentations are another great opportunity for you to deliver a message about who your company is and what it stands for.

Template formats are decent enough, but how many times does your audience want to see the same old graphics and color schemes that come with the presentation software?

Peaceful Media offers an aesthetically pleasing, branded template for your next PowerPoint Presentation, so you can knock the socks off of your audience...and maybe even get folks to pay attention!
